Category B+E (Car and Trailer) Driver Training

Before you can train to upgrade your driving licence entitlements to category B+E, you must have the provisional entitlement to train in the vehicle that you are moving up to. Your provisional entitlement to drive category B+E is included with a full B (car) licence. Licence's issued before 1 January 1997 may already include some higher categories.

Category B+E (Car and Trailer) Licence Requirements

Before you can train to upgrade your driving licence entitlements to category B+E, you must have the provisional entitlement to train in the vehicle that you are moving up to.
Your provisional entitlement to drive category B+E is included with a full B (car) licence. Licence's issued before 1 January 1997 may already include some higher categories.
The following table shows the full licence you will need in order to obtain provisional entitlement in the higher categories.

You automatically get provisional entitlement to B+E, G, and H categories with a full car (B) licence. Licence's issued before 1 January 1997 may already include some of the higher categories.

Upgraded Entitlements added automatically after passing.

Generally, if you pass the vehicle and trailer test for a larger vehicle category, sometimes you'll have lower categories upgraded automatically.
However these rules are different for trailer entitlements. If you get the trailer entitlement for a larger vehicle you won't always get the trailer entitlement for the smaller vehicles you'd normally get through upgrading.
As a guideline:- Lorry entitlements can upgrade bus entitlements but bus entitlements can't upgrade lorry entitlements. Both lorry and bus entitlements can upgrade car entitlements.
This table shows the original category held, along with higher category passed, automatically up-graded categories will depend on both the original and new categories.
